Description of requirement

THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (ED), NATIONAL LIBRARY OF EDUCATION (NLE) PART OF THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR EDUCATION EVALUATION (NCEE) AND INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION SCIENCES (IES) REQUIRES A CONTRACT TO PROCURE CURRENT NEW AND RENEWAL SUBSCRIPTIONS TO SELECTED JOURNALS ON BEHALF OF THE NLE FOR USE BY AGENCY AND CONTRACTOR STAFF. SUBSCRIPTIONS SHALL BE ELECTRONIC TO THE EXTENT POSSIBLE AS THE NLE PROVIDES A PORTAL FOR AGENCY STAFF AND CONTRACTORS FOR EASY, DESKTOP ACCESS. IN ADDITION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE SELECTED BACK YEARS OF SELECTED JOURNAL TITLES; PROVIDE SAMPLE JOURNALS UPON REQUEST; AND PROVIDE A-Z CAPABILITY. THE NLE ALSO REQUIRES ASSISTANCE TO MANAGE ITS LARGE SERIALS COLLECTION OF DOMESTIC AND NON-DOMESTIC TITLES. CURRENTLY THE LIBRARY ORDERS FROM INDIVIDUAL PUBLISHERS AND FROM A SERIALS SUBSCRIPTION VENDOR PROVIDING PRINT JOURNAL TITLES. THIS CONTRACT WAS HANDLED BY FEDLINK AT THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS, SO THERE IS NO CONTRACT NUMBER; THE VENDOR IS AMERICAN OVERSEAS BOOK COMPANY (AOBC).
