Description of requirement
PUGET SOUND NAVAL SHIPYARD AND IMF HAVE A REQUIREMENT TO RENEW THE DELL POWER EDGE SERVER MAINTENANCE. THIS SERVICE PROVIDES FOR PROACTIVE, PERIODIC ASSESSMENT, UPDATES AND UPGRADES OF CUSTOMERS INSTALLED POWER EDGE SYSTEMS AND IT WOULD NOT BE COST EFFECTIVE TO BUY NEW REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT. ALTERNATIVES ARE NOT FEASIBLE SINCE THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S SERVICE FOR PROPRIETARY COMMERCIAL OFF THE SHELF (COTS) HARDWARE/SOFTWARE. IN ACCORDANCE WITH FAR 8.405-6, ONLY ONE SOURCE IS CAPABLE OF PROVIDING THE SUPPLIES OR SERVICES REQUIRED AT THE LEVEL OF QUALITY REQUIRED BECAUSE THIS REQUIREMENT IS FOR DELL PROPRIETARY HARDWARE/SOFTWARE.
