Description of requirement

THIS CONTRACT WILL PROVIDE LOG SCALING SERVICES FOR LOADS OF LOGS AUTHORIZED TO BE SCALED ORIGINATING FROM THE PACIFIC SOUTHWEST REGION (REGION 5) OF THE UNITED STATES FOREST SERVICE. "SCALING," AS USED HEREIN, INVOLVES (A) LOG SCALING SERVICES WHICH IS THE DETERMINATION OF THE GROSS AND NET VOLUME OF LOGS, AND/OR (B) PROCESSING OF WEIGHT SCALE DATA. SCALING, BY WHATEVER MEANS, IS THE MEASUREMENT OF THE VOLUME BEING SOLD TO THE TIMBER SALE PURCHASER, AND ESTABLISHES THE DOLLAR AMOUNT PAID TO THE FOREST SERVICE. THIS CONTRACT INVOLVES NOT ONLY THE ACTUAL DETERMINATION OF VOLUME, BUT ALSO THE ACCOUNTING OF EACH LOAD DELIVERED TO ONE OR MORE SCALING LOCATIONS. THE TIMELY FURNISHING IOF WELL-TRAINED CERTIFIED PERSONNEL, EQUIPMENT, AND SUPERVISION TO PERFORM THE SERVICES ARE THE ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF THIS CONTRACT.
