Description of requirement

THIS CONTRACT WILL PROVIDE LOG SCALING SERVICES FOR LOADS OF LOGS AUTHORIZED TO BE SCALED ORIGINATING FROM THE PACIFIC SOUTHWEST REGION (REGION 5) OF THE UNITED STATES FOREST SERVICE. "SCALING," AS USED HEREIN, INVOLVES (A) LOG SCALING SERVICES WHICH IS THE DETERMINATIN OF THE GROSS AND NET VOLUME OF LOGS, AND/OR (B) PROCESSING OF WEIGHT SCALEL DATA. SCALING, BY WHATEVER MEANS, IS THE MEASUREMENT OF THE VOLUME BEING SOLD TO THE TIMBER SALE PURCHASER, AND ESTABLISHES THE DOLLAR AMOUNT PAID TO THE FOREST SERVICE.
