The Defense Health Agency Contracting Activity (DHACA) in Fort Detrick, MD intends to negotiate on a sole source basis (IAW RFO 12.102(a)) with Pacific Biosciences (PacBio), 1305 O'Brien Dr., Menlo Park, CA 94025 as the only responsible source that can provide the delivery and installation of one (1) Card Processing Automation CPA200™ instrument. This is a Presolicitation notice in accordance with RFO 5.101.
The DCPH-A, Laboratory Sciences (LAB) Directorate equipment maintenance services for PacBio’s Vega system ensures the system is operable and maintained in accordance with manufacturer specifications. The PacBio Vega gene sequencer relies on highly powerful, complex internal optics to measure real-time fluorescence at the single-molecule level inside millions of zero-mode waveguides. It is used to identify bacteria that cause illness. These illnesses impact our fighting forces at duty stations around the world. The PacBio Vega gene sequencer requires Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) trained service technicians with demonstrated technical competence.
